Honors and Awards:

Hyter S (Indra Group) received the outstanding podium presentation award for his talk on “Cooperative effects of keratinocytic RXR and CDK4 in melanoma metastasis”. College of Pharmacy Annual Rising Lecture, (April 3, 2009, Salishan Resort).  

Business plan “NeoHope” developed by MBA Masters students based on “CTIP2 expression as a novel biomarker for Head and Neck Squamous Cell carcinoma progression”, Indra G, Indra AK, Leid M, received 3rd Place overall and won “People's Choice Award” in the 2009 Austin Enterprise Challenge competition.  La Sells Stewart Center, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon.  April 17, 2009.

Indra G’s work to develop “CTIP2 as a novel biomarker for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) in human” was highlighted in a news release from News and communication service at OSU on April 28, 2009. This was later picked up by several national and international ad agencies.

Sandoval M was a 1st place winner at the poster/presentation contest, Celebrating Undergraduate Excellence (CUE) Symposium, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon.  (MA Sandoval, BR Sloat, Z Cui, Superior anti-tumor activity from a gemcitabine prodrug incorporated into nanoparticles)

 


Grants Received:

Maier C (co-investigator) Stevens F (co-investigator).  Purchase of an Ion Mobility Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer.  $455,000 from the National Center for Research Resources (NIH) with matching funds in the amount of $150,000 came from the Colleges of Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Science and from the Environmental Health Sciences Center and the OSU Research Office.  This instrument is capable of separating ionized molecules in the gas phase based on size, shape and m/z.
