Pharmacists practice health science focusing on safe and effective medication use and are prepared to offer support, counseling, and knowledge to patients and other health care providers. Graduates utilize knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology in order to understand biochemical mechanisms of drug action, drug uses, therapeutic roles, side effects, potential drug interactions, and monitoring parameters. Educational experiences prepare graduates to interpret and communicate this specialized knowledge to patients, physicians, health care providers, and the general public. The Oregon State University/Oregon Health & Science University (OSU/OHSU) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates are eligible for licensure as a pharmacist anywhere in the United States and are prepared to advance patient care solutions with creativity and confidence.
