In order to become licensed as pharmacists, Pharm.D. program graduates must pass licensing examinations. The NAPLEX, North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination, and the MPJE, or Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination, are required to become a licensed pharmacist in Oregon.

Many Doctor of Pharmacy program graduates choose to participate in PGY1 residency programs accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Residents in PGY1 residency programs are provided the opportunity to accelerate their growth beyond entry-level professional competence in patient-centered care and pharmacy operational services, and to further the development of leadership skills that can be applied in any position in any practice setting. PGY1 residents acquire the substantial knowledge required for skillful problem solving, refine their problem-solving strategies, strengthen their professional values and attitudes, and advance the growth of their clinical judgment.
