The teaching elective rotation provides fourth year students with the opportunity to experience the other side of pharmacy education. Accreditation requirements and processes, teaching perspectives and methodologies, and various academic responsibilities are explored. Students will learn to develop learning objectives, instructional methods, and effective assessment tools. Activities include attending committee meetings, participating in admissions interviews, and designing and implementing a special project in an area of interest. Students gain confidence and competence in public speaking and small group facilitation, and serve as a resource and mentor for first year students.
"I encourage any of my classmates and future students to take on the teaching elective, as it gives a different perspective of learning and gives a grown appreciation for what professors go through to prepare for each day." ~ 2015-16 P4 Student
