Applications for admission into the Ph.D. and Master's programs open mid-September 2023 for admission starting Fall 2024.

Ph.D. Program

For entry into the Ph.D. program starting Fall 2024, the deadline for receipt of a completed application (including letters of reference, any exam scores, and transcripts) is January 1, 2024. Highly qualified applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to compete for university funding opportunities. 

Applicants with a foreign BPharm degree without research experience are generally not competitive for this program.

It is not necessary to contact a faculty member prior to submitting an application. Once a completed application is received by the OSU Graduate School, it is forwarded to the College of Pharmacy Graduate Studies Committee for review by committee.

Master's Program

It is not necessary to contact a faculty member prior to submitting an application. A list of faculty accepting a Master's student in 2024 will be available closer to the start of the admission cycle.

Pharmaceutical Sciences Ph.D. and Master's degree minimum requirements:

  • A four-year baccalaureate degree (or international equivalent), a professional degree (such as BPharm, BVsc, MBBS, MD, DVM, DPharm, etc.), or an appropriate U.S./Canadian alternative degree, from a regionally accredited (US) or recognized (International) college or university, with a cumulative B average (equivalent 3.00 on a U.S. 4.00 grading scale) on the most recent baccalaureate degree or any subsequent graduate degree from a regionally accredited (US) or recognized (International) college or university, plus all work completed thereafter

OR

  •  A four-year baccalaureate degree (or international equivalent), a professional degree, or an appropriate U.S./Canadian alternative degree, from an regionally accredited (US) or recognized (International) college or university, and a 45-quarter credit equivalent graduate degree from a regionally accredited (US) or recognized (International) college or university, with a cumulative B average (equivalent 3.00 on a U.S. 4.00 grading scale) on the most recent graduate degree.

We welcome applications from a variety of science and engineering majors. Successful students have entered the program with Bachelors degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Marine Biology, Microbiology, and pre-medical and pre-health sciences degrees, among others.

GRE scores are not required for applications to the Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate programs. We utilize a holistic application review that takes into account multiple factors, including field of interest, when making admissions decisions.

These reports include important safety information, a wide range of current security policies, fire safety practices, helpful university and local resources, crime prevention programs, and crime and fire statistics for the previous three calendar years.
