Attention Doctor of Pharmacy candidates and recent graduates,

St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is excited to announce our 2020 St. John's University, in collaboration with American Regent Inc., Postdoctoral Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Informational Webinar. This webinar will provide information for candidates interested in the St. John’s University/American Regent Inc. Postdoctoral Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship in Medical Affairs.

The session will be held Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 from 7:00pm until about 8:00pm EST.

We will be recruiting for one fellow for the 2021-2023 cycle. This fellowship is a two-year experience, and is set to begin on or about July 1st, 2021.

During this exciting event St. John’s University and American Regent program leaders, in addition to our current fellow, will discuss the various components of the fellowship, the application process, and what a candidate would expect if they are selected to be the next St. John’s University/American Regent fellow. The programming will end with the panel answering questions posed by interested candidates.

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the UC San Diego (UCSD) Health PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Programs Virtual Showcase!  UCSD Health will be holding two showcase dates on Tuesday, November 17th and Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.  Student and graduate candidates may now register to visit with the Residency Program Director, preceptors, and residents by following the link to our virtual showcase page here.

The showcase will feature an opening program overview for all attendees and 45-minute blocks of small group discussions in a Zoom breakout-room format. Candidates will be randomly assigned to a block and will rotate through Program Director, Resident, and Preceptor virtual rooms in 15-minute increments.  If candidates are interested in meeting with both PGY1 programs, they can register for both showcase dates, with a different program on each date. However, given that space and capacity is limited, candidates may not sign up for the same program for both dates.

Please help us disseminate this information to your students interested in pursuing residency.   Thank you for your assistance!  For additional information, candidates can follow these links:

-          PGY1 Acute Care Overview

-          PGY1 Ambulatory Care Overview

In addition to our two PGY1 programs, we are also recruiting for the following PGY2 programs: PGY2 Internal Medicine, PGY2 Psychiatry, and PGY2 Critical Care.  These programs will also be participating in the Virtual Showcase and additional information on these residency programs can be found within our website here.

Belmont University College of Pharmacy Post-Graduate Fellowship

We currently have two fellowships in partnership with local healthcare corporations, Aegis Sciences Corporation and HealthTrust. The programs focus on drug information with additional emphases on academia at Belmont, toxicology at Aegis, and corporate management at HealthTrust. Upon graduation, the fellows are uniquely positioned to obtain employment in an academic, corporate, or managed care role with the comprehensive drug information skills so desired in all pharmacists today.

We ask for your assistance in identifying qualified PharmD students who might be interested in pursuing advanced training in academic and corporate environments. Informational handouts for interested candidates are available on our fellowships’ web page at http://www.belmont.edu/pharmacy/academics/fellowships.html. Please share these with your students and faculty.

Interested students are welcome to directly contact our current fellows, Dr. Chelsea Deans (clinicalpharmaegisfellows@gmail.com) and Sally Hughes (healthtrustfellows@gmail.com), for specific questions and further information.

The Fred Meyer Community Pharmacy Residency program takes place in a corporate community/ambulatory care pharmacy setting. In addition, residents will participate in a series of interdisciplinary experiences at The Vancouver Clinic as well as Washington State University. There is an emphasis on the development, marketing, implementation, and delivery of patient care services in the evolving realm of community practice. Our program has a high level of progressive patient care services in a community pharmacy setting with an emphasis on management, business, and leadership components!

During this recruitment year, we know it can be a challenge for students to adjust to virtual interactions during their residency search.  This year, we want to ensure students still have the resources necessary to network with members of our program and learn about the various residency rotations we offer.

We encourage potential candidates to learn more about our program and the current and previous residents through this VIDEO and our WEBSITE.  We are available to meet with candidates at the virtual ASHP Midyear Residency Showcase on Monday, December 7th from 12 pm to 3 pm PST.

For those unable to attend the Midyear Showcase, we invite candidates to attend our free upcoming web-based meet and greet with our current residents and residency program director on Saturday, December 12th, from 10 am to 12 pm PST. Please access the Zoom call through this LINK.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to one of our current residents Elisabeth (Lizzie) Hanson (elisabeth.hanson@fredmeyer.com) or Kate Vijarro (kate.vijarro@fredmeyer.com), or the Residency Program Director, Amy Jay (amy.jay@fredmeyer.com).

Below is information regarding Kaiser Permanente’s Pharmacy Residency Virtual Session.  Instead of traditionally meeting students face to face on site or at Conferences, Kaiser hopes to provide the same level of information and give students the ability to ask questions during these sessions.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated in forwarding this information to current final year students pursuing Residency and to students that may currently be in a Residency interested in exploring PGY2 Residencies.
