This is a multi-disciplinary ambulatory care practice site that allows students to provide direct patient care to an underserved population in Benton County. The pharmacist is a primary care provider who helps physicians assess and determine the course of pharmaceutical care to patients with chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, mental health, etc.
Community Health Centers of Benton and Linn (CHCBL) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which allows Health Services Pharmacy to purchase drugs at 340(B) prices making the cost of prescriptions affordable to the most vulnerable patients in our community. The pharmacy fills around 35,000 prescriptions per year and employs 1.5 pharmacists and 2.5 technicians.
Students will build skills in pharmacy dispensing software, provide patient care by counseling (P2's and up), learn to prepare medications for dispensing including bubble packing and salad packing, and answer patient and provider questions.
