P4 Spring Seminar

OSU Memorial Union
Horizon Room
Friday, May 29, 2020

8am - 5pm (Detailed Agenda to follow shortly)

You are encouraged to make every effort to attend this Spring Seminar as the agenda will cover important information you need prior to graduation. This event features information about financial aid, NAPLEX and MPJE updates, a pharmacy law review, a presentation covering PIC Training and Certification from the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, and more.

Important Information

  • RSVP for the Seminar by Friday, May 8th whether or not you plan to attend by filling out this short form
  • This is an excused day from your rotation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Ramirez
  • Completion of the AACP Graduation Student Survey is required PRIOR to the May 29th seminar. You will be receiving an email shortly that contains a link to the survey. Your individual survey responses are anonymous, but the survey system does know whether you completed the survey or not. If you do not receive the survey link, please contact Tanya Ostrogorsky at ostrogor@ohsu.edu
  • This is a good time to bring your OHSU (and other) site badges to drop-off with us. Unfortunately, you can't keep them as "souvenir" items and there is a charge if you don't bring it back. If you can't bring your badge to the seminar, please make sure to bring them with you to Graduation
  • More information (including final agenda) will be emailed to you prior to the event

Check back here for more event updates.

Oregon Convention Center
Portland, OR
Sunday, June 7, 2020

What is Convocation? - Convocation is a ceremony done in conjunction with OHSU. This is where they have their official hooding and "graduation" ceremonies. Since the College of Pharmacy already has our mandatory Graduation Ceremony separately, and many of the P4 class is still out on rotations, we don't make it required to attend. Our official Graduation on the OSU campus is where you get hooded, not at Convocation like the other schools in OHSU.

We highly encourage you to come if you can make it; it's a great opportunity to see the collaboration of all the schools and colleges first-hand and a chance to celebrate with your peers across all of these fields. We also host a small, intimate OSU College of Pharmacy reception in lieu of a hooding ceremony directly following Convocation.

Reception: Immediately following Convocation for students, family/guests and faculty (Rooms A105-106)

Note: This event does NOT replace the College of Pharmacy Graduation ceremony on June 12th, 2020

    • There is no specific order to line up in. Faculty will NOT be sitting by school. Students WILL be sitting together by school.
    • The seating order from the stage will be: Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Faculty.
  • Please leave personal items (jackets, purses, valuables, etc.) in a safe place prior to lining up. Anything left in the Exhibit Hall will be removed prior to the end of the ceremony.
    • Our Reception room will be open and accessible, but will be unattended during the ceremony.
  • The Procession will begin promptly at 1pm and will last approximately 1 hour.

      • Faculty regalia will be brought to Portland in time for the ceremony.
  • You will be hooded and presented your diploma at the College of Pharmacy Graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 12th, 2020 in Corvallis, OR.
    • You will NOT wear your hoods at Convocation (since Graduation is AFTER Convocation)

Parking & Transportation and Convention Center Notes

Parking at the Convention Center is extremely limited and we strongly encourage the use of public transportation or carpoolilng. If you choose to drive yourself or carpool,  there are several options for parking.

  • The Moda Center's Garden Garage will NOT be available due to another graduation ceremony at the same time as Convocation
    • We do NOT have a reserved lot, so please be prepared to come early to find parking. Be prepared to walk if you need to. Use alternative modes of transportation, like the Streetcar (Take the B Loop Streetcar and the Stop at NE Grand/Holladay is only a block away from the Convention Center) or even Uber/Lyft
  • OCC facilities parking (including the OCC Parking Garage, OCC Exhibitors' Lot, and OCC Lloyd Lot) are available for $10 to be paid upon entry to the garage.
  • There are also 416 metered spaces within 3 block of the OCC.
  • OBOP parking lot is located about 3 blocks away from the Convention Center on NE Oregon Street

A map of the area and available parking can be viewed HERE.

Click HERE for directions to the Oregon Convention Center and more information regarding parking.

Please note that the Oregon Convention Center is currently under construction and will continue to be so during the time we are there for Convocation. It will not disrupt the ceremony itself, but we are aware that it may cause entry and navigational difficulties for students, faculty, and guests. There is a great resource to stay up to date on the changes and important information about construction zones and building entries. As of now, the site indicates that 3 doors near what the OCC considers the main entrance (off MLK Blvd.) will be closed on the 3rd. We hope that, with robust communications and advance planning, you and your guests won't be caught off guard and will have time to plan for an alternate entrance and route.
