The College of Pharmacy offers a clinical pharmacy fellowship in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Outcomes Research. The program is intended to prepare the fellow for a career in academia or other research enterprises.
Our program is uniquely positioned to provide training as part of an interdisciplinary research team that includes, Doctorally trained researchers, pharmacists, physicians, statistical analysts, graduate students, medical fellows, pharmacy residents and students. Fellows will develop expertise in observational research designs (e.g., cohort studies, case-control studies), data management and statistical analysis of large datasets, grant writing, and dissemination of research through publications and presentations. The fellow will engage in ongoing funded research and be mentored to plan, conduct, and disseminate results for additional clinical research projects. Opportunities for clinical practice, graduate coursework, and teaching exist.
Dr. Jessina C. McGregor is the Program Director for this fellowship; Dr. David T. Bearden and Dr. James Lewis serve as Associate Program Directors.

Minimum qualifications: PharmD (or licensed pharmacist) with PGY-1 training or equivalent years of experience. Preferred qualifications: PGY-2 training in Infectious Diseases or equivalent years of experience in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy.
COP/OHSU Student Research
We are accepting P3 and P4 students from the OSU/OHSU Pharm.D. Program for research experience/elective credit. These rotations will provide students with an opportunity to learn about and engage in the outcomes research conducted by our research group. Possible research areas include appropriate antibiotic use, healthcare-associated infections, antimicrobial stewardship, and antimicrobial resistance. Students are generally expected to commit to a longitudinal experience. For most students, this experience results in a poster presentation at ASHP Midyear. Research Intern
The McGregor Research Group periodically accepts volunteer research interns to support our work on prudent use of antibiotics to limit the spread of antibiotic resistance and risk factors/outcomes of healthcare-associated infections. Responsibilities of the intern are dependent on individual skills and interests but may include: reviews and summaries of the literature to support publications and grants, writing/editing protocols and components of institutional review board oversight of research, data entry/management/analysis, management of the research group website, and general project management responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is someone interested in pursuing graduate/professional education in clinical research, public health, epidemiology, or healthcare and is an organized, self-motivated individual. Candidates must be able to work on-site at the OHSU Collaborative Life Sciences Building at 2 days a week for a minimum total of 4 hours per week (during standard business hours) for the duration of the academic year. Interns must be at least 16 years of age and pass an OHSU background check before initiating work.
