Jessina C. McGregor
PI
Jessina was born and raised in Oregon. She graduated from Oregon State University with honors bachelor's degrees in both Microbiology and International Studies. Jessina completed her Ph.D. in Epidemiology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. In 2006, Jessina returned to Oregon and joined the OSU College of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacy Practice. Her research interests include appropriate and prudent antimicrobial use, multidrug-resistant organisms, and healthcare-associated infections. Jessina is a full professor at both OHSU-PSU School of Public Health and the University of Oregon College of Pharmacy. She also co-facilitates the Oregon Antibiotic Stewardship Network.

Olivia Arar
Research Analyst
Olivia was born in Oakland, California, and spent her adolescence in Boulder, Colorado. She graduated from the University of CA, Santa Cruz with a bachelor's in Environmental Science and Politics. Olivia completed her MPH in Epidemiology at OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. After her Master's degree, she worked as a researcher for the Global Center for Health. Her work there focused on studying the human health effects associated with chronic exposure to heavy metals. She joined the OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy as a Research Analyst in 2023.

Maela Lazaro
Pharmacy Student
Maela was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She attended Oregon State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in BioHealth Sciences with a minor in chemistry. She also competed on the OSU gymnastics team in which she earned PAC-12 All-Academic honors and NCAA All-American honors on balance beam. Maela will be wrapping up her final year in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at OSU in June of 2024. Her career interests include ambulatory care, cardiovascular health, and advocacy for the underserved.

Michael Ray
Epidemiology Ph.D. Student
Michael grew up in the Tacoma, Washington area and attended Western Washington University where he earned a degree in biochemistry. After graduation, he spent a year in Soweto, South Africa volunteering at an HIV and AIDS NGO. It was this experience that solidified his desire to work in the field of public health. Michael then moved to the Midwest to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health, where he quickly found his calling in the field of epidemiology. After earning his MPH, Michael completed a national health systems integration fellowship with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and then went on to join the Collaborative Research Unit at the Cook County Health and Hospitals System, where he worked for two years. Michael’s research interests include infectious disease transmission, extensively drug-resistant organisms, and social network analysis. Michael is currently working on his Ph.D. in Epidemiology at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. Michael lives in Portland with his wife, Beckah, and their baby boy, Jonah.
