1 Year General Chemistry with Lab

OSU series is CH 231/261, 232/262, 233/263

Required Topics Covered: Atomic and molecular structures, states of matter, stoichiometry of chemical reactions, periodicity, bonding, solutions, acids and bases, thermodynamics. 

 
1 Year GENERAL BIOLOGY

OSU series are BI 221, 222, 223 (preferred) or BI 204, 205, 206

Required Topics Covered: Ecology, evolution, cell biology and structure, biology of organisms and genetics. 

 
1 Year organic chemistry with lab

OSU series are CH 331, 332, and 337 or CH 334, 335, 336, 361 and 362

Required Topics Covered: Nomenclature, structure, properties and reactions of organic compounds. 

 
Microbiology 

OSU course is MB 302

Required Topics Covered: Microorganism structure, physiology, genetics, growth, function, pathogenicity; effects on animals and environments. 

  • Courses in a general biology series that cover microbiology will not meet this requirement. 
 
HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY 

OSU series are BI 331/341, 332/342, 333,343 or BI 231/241, 232/242. 233/243 or BI 254, 255, 256 

Required Topics Covered: Basic Physiological processes in humans from the cellular to the organismal level covering the major organ systems: nervous, motor, cardiovascular, respiratory, blood, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, immune and reproductive systems. 

 
biochemistry with molecular biology 

OSU courses are BB 350 or BB 450, 451 or BB 490, 491, 492

Required Topics Covered: Structure and function of major biological molecules and macromolecules including proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids; enzyme kinetics; ions; signaling; metabolic pathways; gene expression and regulation.

Prerequisite Science GPA

The Prerequisite Science GPA is calculated as the application is processed. The courses with asterisks above are part of the Prerequisite Science GPA. When calculating Prerequisite Science GPA, the highest grade for the course, if there are repeats, will be used. 

Bachelor's Degree

A bachelor's degree is not required for admission to the Pharm.D. program, Students interested in pursuing a dual degree, Pharm.D./Ph.D. or Pharm.D./MBA, are encouraged to complete a bachelor's degree as it is a requirement for the OSU Graduate School.
