Faculty and staff in the College of Pharmacy need to communicate information to students regularly. Here are the ways you can expect to receive information from the College.
Required Communication Tools - 1.1
Email is the official and required means of communication for all notices from the College of Pharmacy. OSU and the College will use only your official ONID and OHSU email accounts to communicate with you. The College will not use Hotmail, Gmail, etc.
- All Pharm.D. students are required to activate and use their oregonstate.edu e-mail account AND an OHSU email account. Official correspondence from OSU, OHSU and the College of Pharmacy will be sent to oregonstate or ohsu e-mail accounts. Students are responsible for all information sent to either account. Forwarding oregonstate or ohsu emails to another email account is not recommended. Failure to receive e-mail because your alternative email account is full or inoperable is not an acceptable excuse for missing information or assignments communicated from the College or Universities.
- Check your ONID and OHSU accounts regularly. Class listservs, named for graduation year, will be created for communication with your cohort. For example, this year’s P1s are the “Class of 2025”. P1’s and P2’s should check their ONID emails daily and their OHSU email at least twice a term, more frequently if based on the Portland campus. P3’s and P4’s should check both OSU and OHSU emails daily.
- Professionalism in email communications is expected of all Pharm.D. students. A guide to correct email etiquette is included in Appendix 3.
- Communication through Exxat. The College uses a student record-keeping and information system called Exxat. You will be introduced to this system in PHAR 707. Information will be sent to you through Exxat from time to time.
- Letters mailed to your current and/or permanent mailing addresses.
- Announcements posted on Canvas.

Updating Contact Information
Pharm.D. students are required to provide the College of Pharmacy with current contact information throughout their academic program.
Please keep your current and permanent addresses up to date with OSU Online Services, the OHSU Registrar’s office, the OHSU Student Health Service, the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, your health insurance provider, your liability insurance provider, and in E*Value.
Student Directory Information
The College of Pharmacy follows Oregon State University’s policy on the release of student information, which is explained here.
A student may request in writing that all directory information be kept confidential. This option may be exercised by filing a written, dated, and signed request at the Registrar’s Office any time. The restriction remains in effect until revoked by the student even if the student leaves the university or graduates.
Restricting your directory information may unintentionally keep you from getting information from professional associations or other parties that request student information.
Nametags
All Pharm.D. students will receive an OSU College of Pharmacy nametag free of charge. You are required to wear the nametag (and your white coat, if appropriate) any time you are representing the College and/or providing patient care.
In the event that your nametag is lost, broken, or no longer accurate (i.e. your name has changed) you are responsible for purchasing a replacement through this vendor:
R3 Engraving
1380 SW 3rd St.
Corvallis, OR 97333
Phone: 541-757-0707

A list of current Pharm.D. students is distributed to the engraving company each year which authorizes you to purchase a nametag directly. If your name is not on the list, please contact Andrea Friesen in the College of Pharmacy office.
