Application Deadlines

The application for Fall 2025 is now open! To apply, please click on the PharmCAS Application link found above.

We have rolling admission and will be making offers of admission until late June.

Oregon State’s PharmCAS application deadline for Fall 2025 is June 2, 2025.

Grades

The Doctor of Pharmacy program uses a holistic admission review process. There is no minimum GPA to apply. However, prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum of C- grade (1.7) on a 4.0 scale. Any prerequisite course that is a D+ or below must be retaken. Courses must be completed at an appropriately accredited college or university. 

The Prerequisite Science GPA is calculated as the application is processed. The courses with asterisks on the Prerequisite webpage (link to webpage) are part of the Prerequisite Science GPA. When calculating prerequisite science GPA, the highest grade for the course, if there are repeats, will be used. 

In order to be eligible for admission to the Pharm.D. program, applicants must complete all prerequisite courses. Upon request, the College of Pharmacy will evaluate the transcripts of prospective students to determine which Pharm.D. prerequisites they have completed. If you would like your transcripts evaluated, please email unofficial copies to pharmacy@oregonstate.edu. 

Transcripts & Transcript Entry

Transcripts are required by PharmCAS from every college or university from which you have received college credit. This includes coursework taken as dual-credit, Running Start, College in the High School, or transfer credit. 

While completing your PharmCAS application, you will enter all of your coursework that you have completed. If you have coursework that is in-progress or planned for a future term, ensure you include that coursework in your transcript entry or it may delay processing of your application. 

Letters of Recommendation

You must submit at least two recommendation letters with your Pharm.D. application. A maximum of four letters will be accepted. Letters must be submitted directly to PharmCAS and received by the application deadline. Visit pharmcas.org for details. Letters submitted directly to OSU will not be accepted.

People who know you well and can comment on the qualities that will make you a successful pharmacist, such as professors, employers, and practicing pharmacists are good sources of recommendations. Family members or friends should not write letters of recommendation for you.

Experiences

Direct pharmacy experience is not required for application to the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Typically, students only include experiences that take place after high school graduation. Include your application experiences that demonstrate your leadership, community service, and all work experiences, even those that are not healthcare-related. 

Supplemental Information

Oregon State University does not require any supplemental documentation or essays through PharmCAS. 

Optional Coursework

• Coursework in medical terminology, such as PHAR 210.
• Coursework in medical ethics, bioethics, or scientific reasoning, such as PHL 444.
• Advanced coursework in writing or language.  
• Additional coursework in social or biomedical sciences. Examples include but are not limited to courses in cell & molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, virology, immunology, epidemiology, physical chemistry, biostatistics (or other additional statistics), public health, and bioinformatics or computer skills. Examples of these kinds of courses at Oregon State include BI 311, MB 385, MB 416, and MB 434.
• For students interested in the Pharm.D./MBA program, introductory coursework in business administration or health care management, such as BA 211 and BA 213.

Processing the Application

Once you have submitted your PharmCAS application and it has been verified by PharmCAS, your application will be processed by a member of the Oregon State College of Pharmacy Office of Student Success & Engagement. You will be notified that the application has been received. You will receive communication about the status of your prerequisite completion or a request for additional information about your classes. 

Interviewing

Interviews will be hosted online through a video conferencing platform. Faculty and current students participate in interviews and meet with candidates. 

Program Start Date

Admitted students start the Pharm.D. program in the fall. Students are not admitted for winter, spring, or summer terms. 

All persons accepted to the professional program must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening prior to matriculation. These typically occur over the summer.  We do not participate in the PharmCAS background check or drug screening program.
